Welcome

My law office offers personalized elder law and estate planning services throughout Brentwood, East Contra Costa County, and the greater Central Valley area. As an attorney who practices law with care and compassion, I understand and appreciate the value of truly listening to your concerns and your family’s personal circumstances. I work hard to ensure that you receive quality legal services that I tailor to your unique circumstances so that you can have peace of mind knowing your estate plan meets your needs and goals. I help families plan now so that they can avoid having to make stressful decisions during a crisis later. I am a thorough and thoughtful attorney.

I provide tangible value by helping seniors protect their hard-earned assets from the risk of rising long-term care costs and help prevent the burdens families face when the unexpected happens without a properly designed estate plan.  Of course, sometimes a crisis does occur before you have the chance to plan for it. I am here to help you through those times, too I .

care about my clients and making sure they have a quality experience no matter what their circumstances may be.  I am happy to offer in- home visits and consultations to accommodate your family’s needs and provide flexibility to make things easier for you or your loved ones.

Elder Law

What is elder law? Elder law is about helping aging adults or persons with disabilities who are or could be facing long-term health care needs in the future. It is also about connecting you with the resources a family needs when facing legal and health care issues related to aging.

It is a specific area of estate planning that helps families prepare for financial and personal challenges associated with aging and the transition from caring for yourself to having others care for you. Issues I can help you plan for include senior housing and home care, long-term care, estate planning to include living trusts and comprehensive powers of attorney for both health care and financial matters, advance health care directives, and Medi-Cal eligibility.

My goal is to help you and your family put a plan in place to not only manage and protect your hard-earned assets if you need long-term care now or in the future, but to also ease the burdens and stresses of figuring it all out on your own. While I can’t stop the aging process, with proper planning I can make it an easier transition for you and your loved ones.

Estate Planning

Planning your estate means securing your family’s financial future. Estate planning is more than simply drafting a will or a trust and leaving it at that.  It involves so much more.

If you are a parent, you want to put your children in the best possible position for decades. You may also want to have some control over what happens if you become seriously ill, incapacitated, or disabled. A lack of adequate planning can have major consequences in your life and in the lives of your loved ones.  Making no decisions at all can leave your care and your assets in the hands of strangers through public court proceedings.  On the other hand, a comprehensive estate plan can provide you with control while protecting your family’s inheritance.

My unique planning process focuses on your concerns, wishes, priorities, and future goals for yourself and your family, and not just documents.

Trust Administration

Your loved one has passed away, and you have been named the successor trustee. Being a successor trustee involves great responsibility and potential liability. A successor trustee is held accountable to the beneficiaries of the trust. It is not a position to be taken lightly. The law does not demand absolute perfection from you. It does, however, demand absolute loyalty and honesty as well as complete and accurate disclosure. It also requires accurate accounting and recordkeeping.

I am an attorney who has years of experience advising trustees and administrators of large public retirement plans as well as trustees of individual and married couples’ trusts. I can provide you with the guidance you need to help ensure you are meeting your duties under California law. I understand that it is often a role that you are undertaking when you are also experiencing great grief from the loss or incapacity of a loved one. I have walked that road myself personally and while I counsel you with the legal guidance you need, I also offer that guidance with concern and empathy and understanding.
